The stage

The fight happens on a stage, not in an arena with walls. There is a floor, platforms above it, and open space on every side. The sides are the point. A hit toward an edge is a hit toward a lost stock.
The floor is where a stock starts. Platforms are the higher ground: a place to land, a place to drop from, and a place to hit someone who thought they were safe. Under the floor is open too. A down-launch ends a stock the same way a side-launch does, once you pass the blast zone.
Position is the other half of a hit. A strong attack in the middle of the floor gives them room to recover. The same attack with their back to the edge does not. Watch the percent, then watch where they are standing.
